Would you spray the complete shell on the chassis or off the chassis?

If its on the chassis and the body doesn't need to be taken off for any reason then it can be resprayed on the chassis. Obviously canopy needs to be taken off because that needs paint inside and out plus the interior of the body tub needs to be painted which would be difficult to do nicely with the canopy in place Painting the air intake "throat" down in front of the radiator will be tricky but it doesn't show too much

My thinking was if the shell was on the chassis and fixed in place with all the other parts assembled then the spray job would hide all the fixings and prevent scratching and chipping trying to assemble and rebuild after?

If its painted off the chassis I doubt that you'll damage it during fitting out ...prior to painting its best to test fit the headlight covers, the boot lid, the complete side screen assembly as these can be fiddly and risk damage - all the other stuff is simply bolt on and doesn't pose any difficulties
