It has been very hard working trying to get specialist help with some of my Bond rebuild. Cannot find anyone to soda blast the body that actually turns up.
Main Kawasaki dealers keep letting me down with wiring help.
I am having a dual battery system installed, one for the Can-bus system and one for ancillaries. Far to complicated to try and do myself.
However the mechanical stuff the Bug is now being stripped back to individual component parts and will be going off for bead blasting and powder coating next week.
I am having the LSD axle stripped back to casing , bead blasted then then out back together with a new set of bearings and seals.
I had a new electric water pump fitted this week and existing impeller and shaft removed from the engine, they also fitted a custom billet sump shipped from the USA to prevent problems going around corners with oil starvation.
I already have the prop shaft back ready to take for balancing at a specialist in Stowmarket next week.
Very slow going project so far but making some progress.
I’m in same boat pal however, take care about the soda blasting part!! I have took mine to a specialist who only deals with fibreglass and I mentioned this soda process and he said he advises against it. This guy is soooo experienced he repairs racing cars, they go out his yard looking like super new and they come back in pieces normally in a box for him to fix back up lol... it’s yiur choice pal but not sure this old shells would have a good end finish with soda I’d stick to rubbing down and a bit of finesse for the best finish...
bondbug750: Mk2 ...oblong - but not the same as Bug - I'm racking my brain to guess what part bin they came out of :-( - but I bet it's Mk1 Ford Escort - or Vauxhall Viva late 60's

Little-John: I watched Mike and Eddd. restore a Bond Bug on "Wheeler Dealers." At the Woburn 40th birthday party there were two very professional looking 4 wheel Bond Bugs (one yellow, one green.) Were they factory versions? How were they done? By whom?

mybug: Anyone know the whereabouts of PTO 365M? It was mine back in the early 80s and some pix have surfaced here (apparently from ebay around 5 years ago) so is it still around?

karl: Andrea, just seen your post. if you're still looking try putting it in the for sale wants thread.

mybug: Searched and spooled through every image/video/old ad I can find on the internet, I'm thinking that PTO 365M is not around any more. May be resting in a shed, but given the small and tight-knit Bug community, I'd have thought that someone would know it.
