I have been held up for several months working on the body but finally got a new guy coming tomorrow (fingers crossed)to blast my Bond Bug shell as the last two times the other guy turned up and his kit failed. I getting him to blast all the nooks and cranny's and underneath to remove all crap from the fibre glass as well.
I have already picked up my refurbished wheels from WheelWork that are now shiny black power coated better than new. The engine mechanic has fitted the new baffled oil sump and removed the old mechanical water pump, got a nice shiny electric one now for better flow.
I had my prop shaft assembly balanced by a specialist machining company in Stowmarket and picked it up last week. Looks too good now to hide underneath LOL
All the metal bits including my new frame, swinging arms, brake calipers, diff etc are at the powder coaters in bits and will be ready to pick up in the new year.
I have an engineer ready to rebuild the diff (now it is back to just is casings)with new bearings and seals I bought.
Then it is time to put all the mechanics back together.
It is a long old haul doing this project properly but it is great fun.
I am hoping once all the mechanics are finally together I will bring it to a club meet to show it all off before the body goes on and hides it all LOL
Are their any members still around I know from the 1980's when I used to come to all the rallies ??
Definitely be there Karl even if the body is not finished. All the running gear will be put back together probably around Feb and I bought a special flat bed Smart car trailer for the Bug a couple of years ago to bring it to meets.
The body might just be sitting on the Bug for easy removal if it is not complete.
By the way the blaster guy turned up today and it has now been done so I can move on.

Little-John: I watched Mike and Eddd. restore a Bond Bug on "Wheeler Dealers." At the Woburn 40th birthday party there were two very professional looking 4 wheel Bond Bugs (one yellow, one green.) Were they factory versions? How were they done? By whom?

mybug: Anyone know the whereabouts of PTO 365M? It was mine back in the early 80s and some pix have surfaced here (apparently from ebay around 5 years ago) so is it still around?

karl: Andrea, just seen your post. if you're still looking try putting it in the for sale wants thread.

mybug: Searched and spooled through every image/video/old ad I can find on the internet, I'm thinking that PTO 365M is not around any more. May be resting in a shed, but given the small and tight-knit Bug community, I'd have thought that someone would know it.
