HI Karl, should is the word,a clean spot and four screw holes is all there is in the footwell along with no number plates or log book. Regards scubydrew.

An engine number would show if it still has an original Bug engine or a later transplant (say 850cc), but if the VIN plate has deliberately been removed then it sounds like its identity may have been 'transferred' to another car, so suspect one or both were stolen at some point. Most practical option probably simply to strip for parts. Highly unlikely to get anywhere with DVLA and if you do and it turns out the car is stolen it may not be yours anyway.

On the Chassis at the top on the drivers side sometime Reliant stamped the chassis number. Its normally covered in Paint if its there at all. If its there it will be on the plate above the rear suspension.
