so with people self isolating then surely there must be lots more Bug fettling going on in garages and man caves up and down the land, so lets here about all this spannering ? be it grazed knuckles or sheered bolts or getting it fired up for the first time in yonks ?
My friends have let me have their garage to store my Bug in. It is at the end of the road. As a thank you I fixed, painted the door, window and painted the wall and floor. Bug related that is it. Busy doing DIY, I bulk bought the day before lockdown and I now have a garden suite thanks to Internet shopping
hi all, I have just about finished all the FIY jobs...I'm running out of essential materials like paint and wood etc....all the builders merchants are shut. I only wish that they had given us a weeks notice to allow for stocking up on materials. Only good bit is that I can't paint the rooms lol stay safe all bug owners we'll be back on the road soooooooon. Ayrbugger
Screwfix is open for click and collect or delivery. I used them yesterday for a strip light in one of the rentals that had gone, leaving the guests in a dark kitchen. Guests are two electricians working on a local construction site ironically, but clearly they arn't fitting strip lights. Anyway try screwfix, their paint stock is not as wide ranging as others minde you.
I'm getting used to this isolation business now. Just reviewed some documents for work that needed to be done before 8.30 Monday morning, so only half a day pretending to work tomorrow then play time in the garage. Just about to sit down to an isolation lunch of butternut squash soup followed by roast beef with roasted sweet potatos, sweed and parsnips, with home made chocolate fudge to finish. Posibly a glass of Merlot to go with it too.

Kev: How easy is it to remove body from chassic?
Apr 23, 2020 18:37:51 GMT
ayrbugger: Kev, Open up forum and go to bond bug problems...there is a section re removal of body. You'll need three strong blokes or as I did a hoist and a support frame, and a strong beam in your garage to hang it all off.

V8 Bug: I owned bought a bug in 1972 and had 3 years of fun with it. Around that time I saw an article about a number of bugs that had been fitted with V8 engines for an Arab prince. I think this was done in Wales. Anyone know anything about these?
