so who's Bug has / was off the road for the longest time ? mine haven't really been laid up for a prolonged period, but i do know one Bug owner who's Bug has been in bits in the back of his garage for at least 25 years. can anyone beat this ? surely someone can ?
I purchased the bug from Ron that has been off the road since 1977, it should be ready to drive within the next couple of months although no great rush as at best I can only take it around the block until the lockdown is lifted
Hi Vannin although I am happy the car will be restored to a safe standard I will still get it MOT`ed, just got to find a MOT station that can test a 3 wheeled car so far the one`s I have contacted can not test it or even set the headlights up
hi Roger, yes very wise decision. always a chance we can miss something. makes me laugh when you hear people say it doesn't "need" an mot there was a facility on the dvla website were you submit your postcode and they sent you the 3 nearest mot stations that test your tripod. i would imagine that it is still available though i've not looked.
yes I bought the car in an auction from mathewsons,(banger and cash fame)in2015.it was in bits in boxes there was a picture of it in classic car weekly in a barn in Whitby.i have almost completed a nut and bolt rebuild.
tmallen: Just registered as I am looking to purchase a BB, I have one in particular that I am awaiting more information on. In the meantime, anyone got one for sale or know anyone who has, please send me details. Thanks

Kev: How easy is it to remove body from chassic?
Apr 23, 2020 18:37:51 GMT
ayrbugger: Kev, Open up forum and go to bond bug problems...there is a section re removal of body. You'll need three strong blokes or as I did a hoist and a support frame, and a strong beam in your garage to hang it all off.

V8 Bug: I owned bought a bug in 1972 and had 3 years of fun with it. Around that time I saw an article about a number of bugs that had been fitted with V8 engines for an Arab prince. I think this was done in Wales. Anyone know anything about these?
