now i don't condone this for one minute but what do other people think ? should it be allowed if it gets a Bug back on the road or not ? and what about the asking price (£500 or near offer) cheap or dear ?
He is staying technically legal by claiming that they are memrbilia, but £500 for a bit of paper that relates to nothing is extreamly expensive, he is clearly intending someone to use them to clone fake vehicles, which is ilegal.
There are ligitamate ways to recover the identity of a vehicle from the DVLA. Unfortunatly thay make it so difficult that people often see obtaining an identity from another vehicle seem like the better solution.
My concern is that the vehicles that these V5s relate to might still be out there somewhere. The documents belong to the owners of those vehicles not the ebay seller that happens to have an old bit of paper. If someone has used one of these old V5s to put the wrong vehicle back on the road, and later the correct vehicle surfaces, it will be almost imposable to put it back on the road following the correct legal methods. an unfortunat downward spiral continues.
yes Ady £500 does appear expensive but if you haven't got that piece of paper then all you have got is a very large orange ornament but with that piece of paper could easily be worth upwards of £10,000 (i'm not condoning this behaviour) not sure what you mean by "to clone fake vehicles" a Bug is a Bug is a Bug with or without a V5C as for the dvla, nightmare to deal with. how about 7 months to renew my vocational driving licence, and i personally delivered the forms. how do we know that the ebay sellers V5C isn't in his name ? we don't. as for the donor vehicles still being "out there" it's possible but very slim chance, as for identifying said donor or more correctly what bits (if anything ) are left of the car i'd suggest virtually impossible problems do arise when for example an ex reliant dealer (we all know who) sells a bug shell and leaves the i.d on it and is then somehow surprised that the buyer has applied for and obtained a V5C from swansea for the car (shell) what about the Bug club buying V5C's offered for sale and declaring them to swansea as scrapped vehicles ? you don't see many for sale
talking of "logbooks" if you think £500 is a tad expensive then don't buy a mk2 RS2000. V5C on the internet at the moment for the above, 60 times the price of the Bug one. that's right £30,000 now that is expensive
tmallen: Just registered as I am looking to purchase a BB, I have one in particular that I am awaiting more information on. In the meantime, anyone got one for sale or know anyone who has, please send me details. Thanks

Kev: How easy is it to remove body from chassic?
Apr 23, 2020 18:37:51 GMT
ayrbugger: Kev, Open up forum and go to bond bug problems...there is a section re removal of body. You'll need three strong blokes or as I did a hoist and a support frame, and a strong beam in your garage to hang it all off.

V8 Bug: I owned bought a bug in 1972 and had 3 years of fun with it. Around that time I saw an article about a number of bugs that had been fitted with V8 engines for an Arab prince. I think this was done in Wales. Anyone know anything about these?
