All, Have a issue with the windscreen, the weight of the canopy against the ram when up seems to have pushed out the front at the bottom. The windscreen now sits outside of it's rubber inside of the car by 1/2 inch on the bottom. Has anyone had this issue & if so how did you fix it please.
Is there a plate inside the fibre glass where the ram connects to?
Any help would be great, before I start cutting into the canopy.

hi Jeffers, moisture gets into the canopy and rots the reinforcing plates ergo the canopy distorts and pushes out the windscreen in extreme cases. have you got a parts book ? it will show you where the plates are. and if you haven't already then join the bug club and good luck.

Some pictures would be good, I think some have warmed up the fibre glass and pushed held it in place. Becareful not to create a hump in the middle in front of the window.

Jeffers some photos that should help you. These show the inner shin of the canopy. the outer skin has been removed.

There is a steel plate on the back of where the bracket for the canopy strut fixes, this one is almost a mirror of the plate on the outside. Just below that is a strip of U channel running across the width of the canopy for roughly the middle third. These have both been replaced in these photos and are under the new fiberglass areas. I wouldn't recomend splitting the whole of the inner skin out like this, it was too much work to put it back together again. Having been in there I would suggest that a better way to replace this steel is to cut an access pannel out from the outside of the canopy and then refit that after. The steel is fixed to the back of the inner skin by simply being fiberglassed over the top.

It is a shame about the 50th being postponed but due to the current situation I didn't really have much option. Least it gives people a bit longer to get their bugs finished.

Does any one have a copy of the issue with the details of the canopy in plz, which I can either buy or borrow. Will pay postage.
Or just the details of the people who supply them.
Many thanks Dean.
