Hi all.- Restoring my 750ES and have some needs - Heater fan motor & blade; blade broken (in 2 pcs) and motor not rotating freely. Would need both. - Canopy: mine is pretty bent from all over, and some of PO's has tried to repair it by attaching a square tube inside below window, etc. Looking for just the canopy. Have all other bits - Rear axle. Have understood that some other Reliant model has same axle with longer gearing, but still a 1-on-1 replacement. What should I look for?
Any leads? Happy to call you to discuss.

Get yourself a 850 engine and a b axle for best drive

Canopys are not easy to obtain and there were a number of moulds used so chances are if you got another it would need tweaking. I wrote a feature On how to repair them that's in one of the Bug Club Magazines. I will try and dig it out. The fan motor is fairly standard although the 4 bladed version is more difficult to get hold of. The rialto 2 is the axle with the best ratio. Good luck and keep us posted.

What stiffy mentioned is correct, its a b axle. Much better for general driving and long distance.

Thanks gents.
Of the canopy, naturally anything can be fixed, but this one is is pretty bad. What are the main differences I should pay attention at? I may have to take finding a new one as a long term project
Sorry Karl. As the Bug has run only 20k miles & as I recently lifted the cylinder head the bores are pristine, I want to keep engine stock. Would you believe that it would run OK with b axle & bone stock 750 engine? Or in other words enough torque for b axle gearing? I have no idea of the difference in gearing ratios & how to identify a b axle...

The more repairs the canopy has/or had will make it heavier. The strut may struggle over time and put a bow on the outside. That is worse case. I believe my dad or myself (can't remember) ran for a while with a b and a 750, works but still lacks the final push. B axles are Easy to spot they have a b stamped on the diff casing.
