they look like some lights I was looking at ,they are led and separate indicator light and stop and tail think they are 24pounds each which would be96 pounds plus you can buy chrome surrounds for about a tenner sold by carbuilder solutions.
they sound a nice alternative to the standard Lucas items if the quality is there. i had a Bug with toledo rear lights fitted at one time, took me a while to figure out what they were off originally oh and i've had chevette rear lights fitted to a Bug which really suited the car
Hi All They are from e-bay Type in "100 LED Dual Color Car Truck Stop Flowing Turn Signal Brake Rear Tail Light 2X" full details are there, I paid £23 per pair. I used two pairs as they fitted in the space, plus I felt one set would look too little. I made a flat piece of fibreglass, painted it black to the shape of the rubber surround, drilled one hole for the nut n bolt for each light, made a holding bracket to wedge it against the Bug and used the current wire spades to connect to the new spades. PLEASE NOTE the normal Bug lights can be put back in place if needed at anytime. Advantage of having these lights (besides looking good & modern) is that they take up no room in the boot, disadvantage is that they are not original, which many want for their Bug. If buying two sets buy them from the same outlet, as I purchased one set then two weeks later another set from another supplier, the indicator yellows were different shades so I purchased a third set and luckily the yellow matched one of my previous sets. The spare set left over is going on my trailer. I like new modern ideas, I am always adding new stuff to my Bug, BUT (excluding the engine) I always make sure it can be put back to original with very little effort.
Yes I noticed they had no reflector built in too, so purchased two small reflectors. However my Bug passed its MOT without them being fitted, my Short Vehicle signs act as my reflectors for now, even though they are on the mud flaps. If I ever get stopped re no reflectors I will add them to the Boot Lid. I don't tend to drive my Bug in the dark and never leave it parked on a road of a night either, not having them for me is not a major concern or hazard.
These are the reflectors I have, which are also attached to my trailer (bought two pairs).
Re triangular, am I bovvered no, if I get stopped for that I'd be well miffed. Re sleeping in it yes I do fit, watch this space.... The trailer is currently undergoing a full restoration and refit, the rear plate will have illumination, but as I don't usually drive in the dark that light might be detachable. Also adding a rear camera as I cant see over it in the Bug.

burlmeister: m looking for a replacement petrol tank. Does anyone produce them? Secondly, I need to replace the tyres. There is a sign in the car and in the handbook, only cross ply tyres to be fitted. No idea why this should be. Are cross ply tyres still available?

ady: For the petrol tank try looking up triggergas on ebay, he might be able to make you one. You can fit radial tyres, most people do. There is plenty of choice of tyre for it as they are the same size as a Mini. You can still get crossplys if you want
