think outside the box a bit erazor, are there any boat/yacht repairers in your area ? or are there any shower tray bath panel manufacturers in your area ? clearly both will be only too familiar with using fibreglass
I have tried all of the boat builders and fibre glass companies near me and none are interested. Tried anybody that does fibre glass and had several guys visit my garage but it is something they can't or won't do.
I could do it myself but it would not be professional. Must be a retired pro or someone that wants cash in hand that could do this out there.
It is a lot of work to do with large wheel arches, air scoop, dash board, engine cover etc.
I have a garage dedicated to my Bug so it could be done on site if needed.
I have web site I made up showing the progress of the Bug with tons of pictures on the link below.
what about writing in to one of the classic magazines for example practical classics appealing for an expert in your area ? i have seen similar appeals in the past. you never know you might touch lucky and you've nothing to lose have you.
Erazor I have 28 years experience as a composits pattern maker in the motor sport industry. check out. straight to the point racing. The dragster that you see is an example of my work.Have a portfolio of some of my other work.I don't do computers much I build things.Look forward to your response. Hi Erazor, You have done an amazing job on the Bug I wondered why we had not seen any updates for a while. I had been following you with much interest. I see you are having a problem with regards to finding some one qualified to do your body work for you. The company that did mine is based in Loughborough Leicestershire, PS not Leicester, and did a really professional job and looks amazing. It was done on a insurance job, but it wasn't cheap, it was prepared, rebuilt and the sprayed in a modern body shop. The insurance bill came to £2100 but i think it was hyped a little because it was an insurance job but never the less the job was spot on. If your still interested maybe they might be able to help you and they are a reputable body shop company. Maybe its a bit far for you to travel, but if you would like any more info you can contact me on email@example.com Best of luck with your project. Dave
Erazor try. straight to the point racing bespoke motor sport fabrications. Mirage Lamborghini. Garner douglas cobra.Built the plugs and bodys for lambo and dragster produced the bodys for cobras.plus a lot of film stuff and one offs. And yes I can
adl2: cdb15, that's just such a shame that someone let it get into that state. I know that's more than I could cope with but I admit I am slightly tempted. For the VIN, it would end up as a Trigger's broom of a restoration.

burlmeister: Trouble fitting new 6052 fan belt. Alternator adjusted to the max. Belt is on the engine and alt pulleys but I just cannot get it to stretch over the lip of the fan pulley. Is there a trick to this? Driving me nuts!

adl2: That barn find Bug as linked by cdb15 is now bid to over a grand. Or should I say, that V5 doc for a Bug is up to over a grand.

rooster: can any one tell me what car the canopy lock came of ? ive been told a triumph
Jan 18, 2021 15:23:26 GMT
rogeru7: Hi the basic lock is off a Triumph but it will then need a major mod to be used on the Bug canopy unless you have access to a lathe and a mill it’s not an easy mod

mysticmick: hi all . i recently purchased a bug . my dream car for restoration . i have the vin plate . with chassis number and engine number . but sadly no reg number . is there any way of finding out the original reg so i could apply for the v5 .. thanks in advance
May 8, 2021 16:20:42 GMT
cdb15: To Mystic Mick: contact HPI and ask if they will do a VIN-only check. Usually if you have the registration it's £19 or so, but may be different from the VIN. Or there is a DVLA procedure using form V62 - check out the government web site for the procedure.
