Another you tube video has appeared this time on the history of the Bond Bug.
The presenter seems to be under the illusion it was an idea from Bond rather then Reliant who commissioned the design and put it into production. For the record apart from the Bond name the Bond company had nothing to do with the Bug. It was Reliant who bought in Tom Karen and Ogle and it was reliant who after the design process built the bug at the newly acquired Bond Premises in Preston.
Thanks for posting this link. I've just watched it and read all the public comments. Certainly no shortage of armchair experts out there ! About the only authoritative comment I saw was from someone pointing out that the Bond was never a Bond but always a Reliant ... ;o)
On the point of 'Bond was considering a three wheel sporty car', I've read Nick Wotherspoon's history of Lawrie Bond but I can't recall any mention on this point. But given the origins of Lawrie Bond's earliest designs in ultra lightweight racing cars it seems a bit trite to say 'Bond were considering a sporty car' - I'd be pretty surprised if that wasn't in Lawrie Bond's thought every single day of his life!
Given the footage that was included in this video, I was surprised to see The Bug Club notable by its absence from the sources credited at the end. As one person commented, a litte more research wouldn't have gone amiss. Especially since the producer actually mentioned the Bug Club by inference if not by name.
stan: did you get details .

burlmeister: m looking for a replacement petrol tank. Does anyone produce them? Secondly, I need to replace the tyres. There is a sign in the car and in the handbook, only cross ply tyres to be fitted. No idea why this should be. Are cross ply tyres still available?

ady: For the petrol tank try looking up triggergas on ebay, he might be able to make you one. You can fit radial tyres, most people do. There is plenty of choice of tyre for it as they are the same size as a Mini. You can still get crossplys if you want
