Good evening people, can someone clarify maybe I'm going doolally in my old age. There's a fella in Darlington selling speedo decals 100mph for Bug /Regal cars. If the original speedo facia is 80 mph and 100mph replacement is used surely the calibration will be out as 40 mph is between the "ind" and "beam" on the 80 mph and it reads 50 mph on 100 mph. Is the speedometer drive for the 80mph different to the 100mph? And ,,as an after thought, when Bugs left the factory did they have 100 mph or 80mph units or maybe it differed from cars manufactured at Preston before Tamworth??
As above also the speedo drive is different although I'm not sure how accurate the Bug speedometer is coupled with the pointer flapping around that much I don't think it would make a huge difference which decal you used on which clocks
Hi, Mine was sticking until out with a pal one night he said there is a scratch on the speedo. No not on the outside but the needle was sticking as it moved round against the background, easily solved...strip out the dash and strip speedo then rebuild them and go for test run. Thankfully it was repaired Billy aka Ayrbugger
Go for it Barracuda, your car your choice. If you can put a picture up of the finished article with the old English white background. Be good to see something different, a bit like most Bugs being fitted with the Dunlop D1 alloys, nowt wrong with them but there are plenty of alternatives out there
