Took FGU out for its first spin in 8 years today. A quick trip around the green and down to the garden centre. Bloody thing was flying along. I had a grin like the cheshire cat. The wiper got done today along with better Earths on the rear lights.
A bet that was great fun, why have you waited so long? Which carb was you using. One more request, I have to sign in every time I come on to the forum and its been a bit of a faff, for some reason its not remembering my password even though I have ticked the remember me box. Any help in this matter will be helpful.

Generally remembering passwords and usernames is controlled by the security section of preferences (= "options", "settings", etc according to which browser you have) in your browser. Nothing to do with the website as such. The browser uses the website's cookies to match a password with the website address. This for example is the relevant section (without the formatting and tick boxes) from Firefox (Tools/Options/Privacy & Security):
Cookies and Site Data Your stored cookies, site data, and cache are currently using 1.0 GB of disk space. Learn more Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed Clear Data… Manage Data… Manage Permissions… Logins and Passwords Ask to save logins and passwords for web sites Autofill logins and passwords Suggest and generate strong passwords Exceptions… Saved Logins… Show alerts about passwords for breached web sites Learn more Use a master password Change Master Password…
While you can auto-save both username and password, I would strongly suggest that you NEVER save passwords, on this site or any other. For most sites in my experience, the "Remember me?" option generally by default only remembers the username, for obvious reasons of security.
adl2: cdb15, that's just such a shame that someone let it get into that state. I know that's more than I could cope with but I admit I am slightly tempted. For the VIN, it would end up as a Trigger's broom of a restoration.

burlmeister: Trouble fitting new 6052 fan belt. Alternator adjusted to the max. Belt is on the engine and alt pulleys but I just cannot get it to stretch over the lip of the fan pulley. Is there a trick to this? Driving me nuts!

mysticmick: hi all . i recently purchased a bug . my dream car for restoration . i have the vin plate . with chassis number and engine number . but sadly no reg number . is there any way of finding out the original reg so i could apply for the v5 .. thanks in advance
May 8, 2021 16:20:42 GMT
cdb15: To Mystic Mick: contact HPI and ask if they will do a VIN-only check. Usually if you have the registration it's £19 or so, but may be different from the VIN. Or there is a DVLA procedure using form V62 - check out the government web site for the procedure.
