My missus Sue loves growing runner beans and is unable to find her favourite variety which is called Goliath. Has anybody any ideas where I can find some? maybe a local garden centre near you could do mail order? Any help would be gratefully received Les
cheers Ivan rang the above firm this morning and they no longer sell seeds. I've looked on loads of sites, including Kew and nobody has any, there must be a world shortage. what I need is a veg grower who has saved some of this years beans to grow next year six or seven would do.
Per my better half who knows about these things, Goliath is a heritage variety which is probably why most mass market places won't even list it. Thomson & Morgan list it but "no stock". How about putting a wanted ad in Freecycle or Gumtree or a local paper? Here in this part of Sussex ads on Freecycle for surplus plants or fruit are fairly common.
She also says now is not the time of year to be planting runner beans anyway, so maybe try looking again at the 'right' time, in the Spring?
Thomson & Morgan's site has an alert facility where you can register an interest and they will contact you when your item comes into stock.
