Hi, I've bought a power socket to fit in my bug. I'm planning to install it in the passenger footwell just below the engine cover so I can connect a sat nav. Can anybody tell me what to connect the wires to? Thanks.

It is best to keep the connections separate from the original wiring. Connect the live feed with an inline fuse to the live feed to the starter solenoid, and the earth to either the engine block or a chassis earth.

Alternately use the spare fuse on the fuse holder {wired in to a live} and then connect to a suitable Earth. I would also add an inline fuse as Ady said.

as above but I fitted mine into the small vertical section of bodywork just in front of the gearstick, well out the way, easy to get at and nowt can fall into it like when it is fitted to the flat area around the gearstick if that makes sense
