If you'r re-using the existing boot lid it might be an idea to fill up the old holes into the ply board with araldite and clamp together then use a slightly longer hinge into new positions ...likewise the self tappers into the boot lid rim actually screw into a thin, reinforcing steel bar that goes across the whole of the lower rim - no doubt that the original holes will be corroded on that bar so makes sense to use a slightly longer hinge so that you can exploit new screw positions into non-rusty steel for the self tappers. I'm using 50mm x 16mm ...rebated into the ply but flush fixed to the boot rim GRP

You need ones with a bit more width between the holes. B and Q sell them but I'm not sure on the size.

Boot lid wire straps ...anyone know what parts bin they were robbed from? ...do you think that they are the same as Mk1 Mini? ...anyone know how long they are? ...was there one or two fitted? ...I suppose that they are worthwhile enough to bother sourcing and fitting?
Sorry for hijacking this thread but makes sense to keep all about the boot in one place

Sorry for hijacking this thread but makes sense to keep all about the boot in one place We make up our own Boot check cables just for the Bond Bug 9.00 a pair plus 1.27 for postage. Maybe more expensive than the Mini type but a far better quality. Regards Dave BBSS
